Synopsis: A revolutionary English teacher, Keating, inspires a group of prep students to fight the status quo and discover who they are in the process. Unfortunately this does not bode well in a 1950's, New England, Ivy League prep institution that prides itself on tradition and shuns alternative educational techniques.
Fact: Laura Flynn Boyle didn't find out that her part was cut from the film until the night before the premier when she was asked not to attend.
Trivia: Professor Keating was originally supposed to die of Cancer.
Movie Mistake: The Thoreau quote is incorrectly read at their meetings as is the Whitman quote from "Song of Myself".
My Take: Without a doubt, Dead Poets Society was the best film in 1989 and, for me, had the best ending to any movie ever. I could literally write a novel about what makes this movie phenomenal, aside from pages of movie quotes, but I'm gonna trust that if your reading this and haven't seen Dead Poets Society that it will automatically move to the top of your 'must see' lists.

If you look through all the movies which try to work the inspirational teacher idea, "Dead Poets Society" is definitely one of the best, if not the best. One of my favourite scenes is when Professor Keating has them marching around the school yard encouraging them to find themselves rather than just following others.
