Synopsis: Karl Childers is a mentally challenged man, who killed his mother and another man at the age of twelve. When Karl is released from a mental institution, years later, he returns home and befriends a boy named Frank and his mother, Linda, who invites Karl to move in with them. Linda's abusive boyfriend, Doyle, takes exception to Karl and the tension rises to a violent, memorable ending.
Fact: Billy Bob Thornton won the Academy Award, Best Original Screenplay for Sling Blade.
Trivia: You will find virtually no red in the film because Billy Bob Thornton felt red should only be used in revolutionary war movies.
Movie Mistake: When Doyle demands that Randy leaves his house, we see Randy put on his jacket. When Randy actually leaves, he's carrying the jacket over his arm.
My Take: I was blown away when I saw this movie. I thought Billy Bob should have won two Oscars, the other for acting because he was amazing. The film had heart and we got to see amazing performances from Dwight Yoakam, John Ritter and J.T. Walsh. This movie is a must especially for those of you out there that love movies because Thornton left it all out there for us to see.

This was a great movie and I find myself say, "give me the bigguns" all too often.
