"Two days ago, I saw a vehicle that would haul that tanker. You want to get out of here? You talk to me." - Max, The Road Warrior (1981)

Warner Brothers, rated R, 95 minutes.

Directed By: George Miller

Cast:

Mel Gibson - Mad Max Rockatanski

Max Phipps - The Toadie

Vernon Wells - Wez

Kjell Nilsson - The Humungus

Emil Minty - The Feral Kid

Virginia Hey - Warrior Woman

Domestic Box Office Gross: $24,600,832

Synopsis: In a post-apocalyptic Australia a lone warrior must help a small band of people escape with their fuel against a ruthless gang.

Fact: Mel Gibson only had 16 lines of dialog throughout the film.

Trivia: The wicked stunt where the motorcycle raider flips off the bike and smashes his legs against the car was an accident and the rider suffered a broken leg.

Movie Mistake: Weather patterns are remarkably inconsistent throughout the film. When Max is talking to a man it switches from cloudy to sunny depending on POV.

My Take: Welcome to Hollywood Mr Gibson! The Road Warrior introduced America to Mel, for better and worse, and he's been a superstar ever since. I loved this movie, it was all action and had some really weird people in it. I hadn't been to Hollywood yet so they were weird to me at the time. Check it out and soon because provided Mel hasn't completely black listed himself another sequel is in the works.

Man, remember when Mel Gibson was still cool? I think I'm unusual among movie fans in preferring Mad Max over The Road Warrior though.
